Sandalwood essential oil comes from the heartwood of the Santalum tree, a heiparasitic evergreen that grows by joining the root system of other trees. The essential oil is extracted through steam distillation of pieces of wood from matured Sandalwood trees which are 40-80 years old, although 80 years is preferred as the older the tree, the better the quality. The essential oil serves the purpose of a cicatrisant and soothes the skin to a great extent, treats scars, blemishes and inflammation. It is also an effective astringent that tones your skin and rejuvenates it perfectly.
